This past weekend, I ended up doing an impromptu day trip to Tahoe with some friends. It was nice to have a full day activity planned for Sunday to get out of the rain in SF; however, it was quite a whirlwind with a wake up time of 530am and not returning home until 1030pm. But, the day was well worth it and I'm so happy we went!
We ended up at Northstar on the north side of Tahoe and were greeted with fresh powder and sunshine! The mountain was surprisingly empty and we were able to rip around without waiting in line to get on a lift. We hooked up with a ski patrol for part of the day who showed us all the best spots and snow on the mountain which was an added bonus.
My favorite ski attire always consists of layers so I'm able to moderate my temperature throughout the day. This especially comes in handy skiing in California where the temperatures are not too extreme. I was outfitted in Marmot Goretex outer shell jacket and pants, a North Face Thermoball jacket, Patagonia fleece, and a lululemon base layer. I also found these mirrored goggles on Amazon that made for some pretty cool pictures!
I've always loved skiing but with my job as an accountant (being busy from January to April) and previously living in Toronto, my opportunities to hit the slopes have always been limited. Now that I live in SF and am relatively close to Tahoe, this weekend was the perfect opportunity to get away and see the beauty of this area while getting some exercise. I'm looking forward to exploring more resorts this month and the next upcoming season. Let me know in the comments where your favorite place to hit the slopes is!
As always, thanks for stopping by! xx
